Gatsby Art Deco fireplace mantel

We make Fireplaces from 1920s Art Deco fireplaces and classic Edwardian fireplace and mantel designs.
This 1920s fireplace mantel is an exact copy of an original one dating from 1927 and purchased in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The original mantel was made in a light walnut wood. The fine "whiskers" combine elegantly with the slightly Gothic arch of the fireplace opening and the pronounced raised frame of the opening sweeps into the foot blocks that wrap around the outside of the mantel legs. While being very much a 1920s piece, elements of the mantel design, particularly the foot blocks, have evolved from the more organic Art Nouveau traditions of the Edwardian period.
