Clarence Arch tiled fireplace insert
The Clarence is the original name for this style of fireplace arch made with 4 inch bull-nose tiles.
In the 1920s this style of fireplace insert was probably the most widely produced of any fireplace.
The opening tiles were mass produced by several different tile makers, many around Stoke on Trent and slab shops produced these in large numbers for the new suburban housing.
Because of the number of fireplaces that we sell in this design, we have regressed slightly in our manufacturing techniques. We slip cast the tiles here in our Manchester factory.
This process does give the tiles an attractive hand-made look and means that the glaze intensity will vary across the tile.
We offer this 1920s arched fireplace insert in several versions, with a simple or a fan keystone design and with or without the Arts and Crafts style "dots".
