Victorian Rouge Marble Mantel

We make Fireplaces from 1920s Art Deco fireplaces and classic Edwardian fireplace and mantel designs.

An impressive Victorian Rouge marble mantel with Belgian black grooved corbels.
The mantel came from a large, late Victorian terraced house in Stoke on Trent and dates to the early 1890's.

The marble is a fascinating and colourful blend of terracotta with grey and white veining. The simplicity of the mantel design allows the beauty of the marble to be shown at its best.

Two ornamentations have been allowed - the first is a moulded trim to the top of the foot blocks, the second the interesting grooved corbels - both are in polished Belgian black marble, perfect contrasts to the complexity of the rouge marble.

It was originally fitted with a cast iron insert with two decorative tiled panels.
