original 1930s tiled fireplace insert

We make Fireplaces from 1920s Art Deco fireplaces and classic Edwardian fireplace and mantel designs.

This is an outstanding example of a 1930s tiled fireplace insert. The detail of the workmanship that has gone into making it is rare.

The tiles themselves are a mottle with shades of pale blue , Mocha and dusky pink. These would have been hand - glazed.

The frieze of the fireplace insert is composed of hundreds of separate finger tiles in the same pinky glaze, with the central motif picked out in two different brown mottles mosaic tiles.

This frieze is inset and bowed, leaving two small ledges to either side of the fireplace opening.

The insert slopes back to the fireplace opening itself.
